The Rho Rho chapter of Sigma Delta Pi continued its semester-long Spain series on Tuesday, September 29, with a presentation on Burgos, Spain. Truman facilitates a direct exchange with the Universidad de Burgos. Current members Sadie Williams and Derek Benjamin presented. Sadie spent a semester as an exchange student at the university, while Derek spent several weeks in Burgos while visiting a friend from the Universidad de Burgos who spent a semester at Truman.
Amidst discussion of the city and its history, the presentation had a specific emphasis on Truman’s study abroad program in an effort to promote international study. Specifically, students benefited from a discussion of the reciprocity of the exchange: Sadie spent time there, while Derek’s friend spent time at Truman. As such, those in attendance got a feel for the cultural dialogue that results from engagement in international education.
